Shree Shree Thakura lived at Puri for twelve years. In his secluded life at Puri, some people started coming to see him and became disciples. On his auspicious birthday in Year 1934, he established Nilachala Saraswata Sangha for his disciples in Odisha. The house where Thakura used to live is now known as Nilachala Kutira.

The Sangha was established with following three principles.

  1. Leading ideal household life (Adarsha Gruhasta Gathana): Lead a disciplined and idealistic life such that your kids can grow to be of noble characters.
  2. Realization of United Strength (Sangha Shakti Pratistha): Establish a sangha(religious group) where you can find at least three devotees to attain spiritual enlightenment.
  3. Sharing of feelings (Bhava Binimaya): Share your spiritual feelings with other devotees by attending Sammilani (Spiritual Congregation).

"I wish to awaken my dispirited people through Dharma; to manifest in them the ideals of the great Rishi-Age and to bestow humanity with their loftiest gift; the gift of Self-Knowledge. This is the ideal of our Sangha." - Swami Nigamananda
